# Resource limits

Cap memory, CPU, processes, open files, swap and disk per app or database. Quick size presets the two that matter, and every dimension is independently optional.

## Why it matters

One runaway container cannot take the host down with it. Limits are enforced by the kernel and shown as the ceiling on that app's monitoring charts.
